Changing Air

In 100, by Montana on November 3, 2018 at 3:40 pm

It’s that time of year when the air seems to change overnight. It’s lighter, cleaner, cooler— yet harsher now. So crisp you could cut through it with a knife.

The wind plays its restless song: a million notes a minute in perfect disharmony. The bristling gets louder, like rattlesnakes whispering perilous secrets to unsuspecting guests.

Leaves turning from yellow to orange, from orange to brown.  Breaking free as they drift down, down like kamikaze pilots and circus acrobats salsa dancing through space.

Trees shedding leaves like spiders molting skin. To wait for a warmer day to turn a new leaf.

  1. Guh you captured my dread at their falling with kamikaze pilots and spiders! Winter, nooooooo :(((
