The meal is long but the eating isn’t.  The beer in the backyard kicking leaves, the chat, Whitney’s back, can you sautee those onions real quick, no old joke but you laugh and remember, our last night there was crazy, where are the forks, holy shit!, just let them go until we’re ready, grilled chicken and asparagus, spinach homemade balsamic caramelized onions, so what are you guys actually doing? plum tree and the fading light, kitchen knife duct-taped to the broomstick, ripe plums, it’s dark but for the light inside.
Only afterwards do you really begin to taste it.
