Ghosts In The Chimney

In by Chris on December 4, 2010 at 3:16 pm

“Yesterday the ghosts in the chimney…”

“There are no ghosts in the chimney.”

“There are. They came down. I could see them because soot fell on their shoulders. And they went over there to the mantle…”

“Wait, where’s Mama’s jar?”

“You mean urn? They sort of all gathered around it, and I got scared and left. When I came back in it was gone.”

A remnant wind whispered down into the dark fireplace.

“You lost Mama and you’re going to blame it on ghosts? Like I’ll believe that! Tell me what you did to her!”

“It wasn’t me, I swear!”
