The Five and a Half Minute Hallway

In by K.M. on December 3, 2010 at 9:44 pm

The first pass through takes only a few seconds.
Open the door. Close it behind you. Right, left, right, left.
Second door. Shut it softly.

This time the hall had changed.
Not the paint on the walls,
not the color of the floor,

but something about the space.
A little darker between this knob
and the other. Some grooves

carved in patterns on the walls.
Turn around again, and the other
door  vanishes without a trace.

The roar of the Minotaur approaches
on all sides through the blackening
wall as the grooves split wider.

Try the door.
Locked.
No exit.
