Standing still

In by Wyatt on October 12, 2010 at 8:12 pm

When you’re one year old, give or take a few months given your biology or overbearing gym-trainer parents, you give it a shot for the first time. Soon you master it and never consider it again. It’s standing still for goodness sake. It’s so boring that it’s used in conjunction with corners as torture for naughty children.

Today I stood still on my bike. I regressed twenty years and the world became an amazing adventure once more. I teetered, I wobbled, I tensed, I fell. I remembered gravity, then listened, then played ball. Then I stopped wobbling and stood still.
