I could walk until my life ended
Walk without stopping
I could trace snailtrails from the Puget Sound to barrier islands of which I have only read
My legs would never stop
I could walk through the coldest storms
Walk down planks
Walk up to men and women
Walk over dirt filled with worms
And walk into and out of more towns than the map has space for
A symmetry to my steps and asymmetry to time when it can’t slow me
As I walk down Market Street
Between the rows of cabbage
Over suspension bridges
I could walk forever
