Thoreau and the Poem of Freedom by guest author Charlie Zoi

In by New Author on August 23, 2010 at 12:19 pm

“Most men live lives of quiet desperation”
So said from Walden, Henry David Thoreau,
To make a change requires grand anticipation
That something is better, there is somewhere to go!

He also said “Any fool can make a rule,
And if he does another fool will mind it.”
The creative mind will ignore the rule
And seek the joy and fun behind it.

So if I would avoid boredom and despair,
I must circumvent and bypass convention.
I cannot be of that mass of men who care
About approval, acceptance and avoidance of detention.
