Fog Eyes

“Can you make rain fall?” the girl asked.
In an instant, a thick blanket of rain cloud hovered over the crescent moon as the shaman’s eyes glazed over. A large drop fell on his forehead as if a tentative request for permission to rain. The shaman lowered his head to face the girl. His eyes flashed and thunder sounded. The girl jumped. Droplets raced down from the clouds like galloping horses.
“Do not be afraid,” the shaman said, “you asked for rain.”
She looked up cautiously expecting pellets, but the rain fell on her skin gently now. Soaking, she danced.

  1. Whoa, so good. That third sentence is perfect for the story.
