Summer, Pacific Coast Highway by Guest Author Joy Henry

He drives, and you hang your arm out the window, getting an asymmetrical tan. You’re moving forward with The Beach Boys in your ears, and you know it’s cheesy, but that’s the whole beauty of it. The car rounds a bend and he brakes, screeching to a halt. It’s a cow, huge and unmoving, in the middle of the road. He looks up at you with a disinterested languor. You park the car and get out to stare at the shimmering blue blanket that stretches out behind him, this cow at the edge of the world.

  1. Wow, he must be happy the cow stopped him from driving over the edge of the world.

This is a great piece, Joy.
